We like to know your standpoints on notifications in smartphones.

As long as you can choose to not have them, any number is fine..

Make it optional to choose. The more the merrier. As well as having an option with how often you'll get a notification on zones lost. You can't really go wrong as long as you add options that are disabled by default.

As long as it is quiet, dismissable and not taking more space than one ordinary icon; all good.

I'm obviously thinking android status bar notification icon here showing only the most important one if there are several turf notifications, if you have anything else in mind please specify! Not anything that requires confirmation!

For the specific reasons:

Lost zones: A counter showing lost number; if dismissed doesn't return until a zone is taken. Possibility to permanently disable in-app.

New round: Should appear way ahead if at all; Hour counter from T-24 hours, minute counter last hour?

Update available: Why anything besides the google play icon?

For other, new zone in region would be an obvious one.
Also the possibility to set up alerts in the app could be interesting;
- a certain player online
- & having gps on
- a certain zone is taken

I like all of them, but as said before only if you can turn them on and off in the options.

As Riceri says, that is probably too much of a "stalker-mode". But an alert for a special zone could be more interesting!
