Pro-Mode
Re: Pro-Mode
It is not possible. Google have taken away the possibility to receive the map coordinates, which we need for the zones, without loading the map.

Re: Pro-Mode
strange the cache works very good for me, i notice a big decrease in amount of data needed everytime when using the app, how come its not working good for you problem with phone ?
Re: Pro-Mode
Samsung Note 4 stock ROM. Turf uses at least 100 MB for a 10-15 zone session.
Why not use the normal map with a customized color scheme fitting Turf's colors?

Re: Pro-Mode
That's doesn't mean they are right. Any good dev should listen to their users. If Google broke Pro-Mode, then find a solution instead of not trying, style normal Maps entirely black and problem solved. Normal non-satellite Maps uses a fraction of the data anyways.

I agree, the opportunity to switch between the two have been wished a long time.

Re: Pro-Mode
As I understand it Pro mode is missed mainly because 1: No map loading gives lesser data usage or 2: Higher contrast makes it easy to play in different light conditions.
Technically number one can be ruled out because the caching seems to work well for most people.
There is something of a workaround for number two: If you select a zone, then its owner, and select to show that player's zones - the map gets dimmed a bit for som reason. I think it would be a fine solution if we could select a level of "map dimming" in the settings, because evidently this is technically achievable. Maybe it would spare some battery as well for some users.
